SIFE Cardiff Alumni

As part of the SIFE Cardiff's contribution to generating economic advantage, the group have had the benefit of numerous entrepreneurial, passionate and committed individuals that have made the organisation what it is today. SIFE Cardiff is proud of this heritage and further that it can still count these individuals as part of its ever growing circle of positive influence on the community in which we are based. SIFE Alumni include:

Jon Channon

Jon was a prominent member of SIFE Cardiff in his second year before taking on the role of co-ordinator in the third and final year of his Finance degree. Jon had a tremendous passion for Social Enterprise and he was without doubt the defining factor in shaping the current emphasis of SIFE Cardiff on its community and the environmental commitments. Jon also exemplified what it was to be inspired by the SIFE principles and it was again primarily down to him that SIFE Cardiff rose from the misfortunes of 2007-08 to make it to the semi-finals in 2008-2009. Jon led the College projects as well as the innovative Bio-fuels project started in 2008. Moving on from his experiences of SIFE, and prior to that a considerable time with the Mac Donald's group, Jon has secured a graduate training position with a solicitors firm in Bristol. We wish him all the best but hope to see him soon back in Cardiff helping to inspire this years teams with innovative thinking and razor sharp punnary!

Jonny 'The Face of Your Uni Co-op' Evans

After being approached by SIFE Cardiff to take on the role as its chair, Jonny became the prominent and driving force of the very successful union co-operative scheme launched in 2009. With his environmental passion and zeal for the project Jonny secured the human and physical resources to not only set the project going, but also ensure that it was sustainable beyond its initial year of operation. Alongside SIFE Jonny worked as a regular contributor to the student newspaper gair rhydd, is a keen hiker and a self-confessed bookworm. Developing his business acumen through SIFE and the experience at the 2009 National Competition, Jon has been inspired to get involved in Social Enterprise at home and abroad before moving on to postgraduate study (M.A in Politics Science) in September 2010. We wish him all the best and hope that he will find the time to return to us both as a consultant to the co-op and the great friend that he has become.
