At Cardiff SIFE we recognise that there is little point
in promoting synergies between a business attitude and social issues unless
the business process is socialised from the very beginning and projects are
sustainable in both human and environmental terms.
For this reason you
will not find an bolt on Corporate Social Responsibility statement in which we
make peripheral, knee-jerk and superficial statement of intent on the latest
responsibility cause - or factors that carry the highest risk to our brand.
Instead you will find a student based organisation structured around the primary aim of:
Generating economic advantage
through knowledge transfer that internalises the social and economic cost/benefit
analysis necessary to render the capitalist economy sustainable in both human and environmental terms.
While each project has been designed around the economic advantages that a business approach can bring to social issues (with a heavy emphasis on the idea of benefit stacking where compounding and mutual benefit for as many stakeholders as possible is built into project designs), environmental sustainability is also at the heart of our operations. For how these factors have been applied specific projects, please see the individual project pages located in the Current Projects and Previous Projects sections.
However, it is also necessary to have internal norms of operation that govern the day to day running of SIFE Cardiff as a means to ensure that while social benefit is high, environmentally negative impact is low. Please see below for these guidelines.
