Who and what are SIFE Cardiff?

SIFE Cardiff is the Cardiff division of the international non-profit organisation Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE). This organisation works with business leaders and higher education institutions to mobilise university students to make a difference in their communities while developing the skills to become socially responsible business leaders.

The History of SIFE Cardiff

In April 2009, SIFE Cardiff achieved considerable recognition for their work as they were awarded a semi-final place at the National Championships in London.

However, success has been hard won with 2008/09 involving a serious fight for the team to come back from significant organisational and sustainability issues in the previous year (when the team did not even enter the national competition and only travelled to the finals as observers with other teams who were entering for the first time).

 
SIFE International

Participating students form teams on their university campuses and apply business concepts to develop projects which transfer the knowledge necessary to generate economic advantage and improve the quality of life and standard of living for people in need. An annual series of regional, national and international competitions provides a forum for teams to present the results of their projects, and to be judged by current business leaders against a set of specified principles. The principles that SIFE projects aim to promote are:


1) Financial Literacy

2) Market Economics

3) Entrepreneurship

4) Personal Success Skills

5) Business Ethics
