Your University Co-Op
Following
the success of co-operation between the Riverside Co-operat

ive and
Cardiff SIFE the team decided to launch the blueprints for a similar
operation that would provide healthy, seasonal produce in the
University whilst (through work with proactive groups such as People
& Planet) ensuring that many students could hone their
business/finance skills and commercial skills through the operating of
a social enterprise.
While bags of fruit and veg have previously been sold at cost price
(£2.50), a small premium of 25p will be added from the forthcoming
academic term as a means to provide a sustainable source of funding for
the Riverside Community Cooperative. These funds will be used to
consolidate and develop the service which will continue to bring cost
price fruit and veg to some of the most vulnerable families in the
city. Your Uni Co-op now has a fully sustainable volunteer
administration and the SIFEC team are remaining involved on a
consultancy basis only.
The main work has been to develop and introduce an on-line payment and ordering system which can be found here. However, if you would like to order you goods in person or collect you order Your
Uni-Co-op runs every Tuesday in term time between 11 am and 4 pm in the
Buffers area if the Student Union (just behind the Kitchen dinning
area).
